GUESTBOOK & REVIEWS

Welcome to The Dive Bus Guestbook where you can read what real, actual Dive Bus divers think about their experience with The Dive Bus Curacao, and / or write your own review of your Dive Bus experience.
We rely heavily on word of mouth recommendation, so if you have time to post a review on any of the sites below, we really appreciate it but, more importantly, so do our other divers.
Many thanks!

Yup, there's a big gap since the last Review! We've received heaps and heaps but don't have enough hours in the day to post them all! That's why we've now switched to a new application where you can post your own reviews  so we can spend more time diving and drinking cold beer... ;o) Please post your reviews and comments here!
(We're working on getting the other reviews up here - honest - watch this space.)

Superb!

Made 10 dives with The Dive Bus gang last week. Diving with them is like diving with your friends and buddys back home (except for water temperatures and so, of course, if you are from Belgium like me ;o) ).

You really get the feeling of hanging out with a a bunch of friends rather than being another custome! And with driving with them to the different shore dive spots, you actually get to see the real life on Curacao! And no standard dives of only 45 minutes or so, but adaopted to your demands and experience.
Thank you once again for an excellent diving week!!!

Fantastic dive operation!
I dove with The Dive Bus over two days and went on a snorkelling trip one other day. Mark and Suzy are fantastic - as well as everyone else there. They only took out small groups which is ideal.
I had a great time and I can't wait to return.

My wife and I just returned from our short 4 day vacation in Curacao. I wanted to send you guys a sincere thanks for the superior diving and service. My pregnant wife got sick of me talking about my dive.
I dove the Tugboat with Ocean Encounters the day after I dove with Mark and Kevin. Let's just say that I felt "divers remorse". The divng and service was just not on the same level at all.
As much as I wanted to extend our stay on Curacao to be able to book more divers, it gives me a good reason to come back.
Thanks again,
Derek

The day I spent with Mark, my Dad and Earl the third, was my best dive experience ever!!! Mark's attention not only to us  but to the sea and what's in it, made for an incredible dive.
The fish and creatures he pointed out were amazing. The scenery underwater was gorgeous. We even saw a sea horse! And I was never a fan of reefs and corals - who cares - but now I have a whole new appreciation after seeing the beauty of them there.
I have to admint that after a couple of bad dives on trips prior, I was gun shy to do a two tank dive (and that was my first one). Mark's calmness and comfort with the water somehow found its way to me. I loved the two dives.
What was also nice was relaxing, having lunch and talking between the dives. We chatted about what we saw underwater, what courses to do next, ife in general etc. It was a fantastic day.
I was disappointed that we waited until Wednesday of our second week to dive with The Dive Bus. Should have done it the first week so we could do more dives with them. I'm not really a fan of going to the same island twice for vacation but Mark sold me on Curacao and diving there and I would go back in a heartbeat, and would really like to do my Advanced divng with him. That's how great I think he is and how the Dive Bus is run!!
For those who are looking into The Dive Bus - go for it! Do not hesitate. Do not have any reservations - book now! They are super! And if you do hook up with them, maybe you'll be lucky enough to dive with Earl IV. RIP Earl III - you were a great rubber chicken!
Missing diving with The Dive Bus,

Just wanted to say thanks again for helping me get my Open Water certification. I had so much fun with you!

After completing the certification, I was able to get in 4 more dives with my friends during my stay - 2 shore dives and 2 boat dives (Tugboat and Directors Bay). All were incredible and I couldn't have done it without you!

And next time we're in Curacao, we'll ALL be diving with you. Most definitely!

Take care!

I wanted to thank you guys for a great diving time. I will be doing a presenation at our dive club and will promote you as the only Dive Bus to take.

I am really thankful for arranginng the east end dive - truely an awesome place! My vote is that Watamula is by far the better of the two sites (Mushroom Forest), however the east point dive was every bit as spectacular as Watamula. Those and the Superior Producer were three of the nicest dives I've done.

Thanks to Camilla for getting my daughter shaken out - she did well on the dives.

Best regards, good luck and safe diving,

The Dive Bus is THE BEST!

My wife and I just returned from an 8 day trip to Curacao. We stayed at Breezes and did some dives with Ocean Encounters at Breezes and some with The Dive Bus.
We LOVED our dives with The Dive Bus! We had individual attention, the dive site was outstanding, our divemaster Camilla was great and they really catered to us in every way.
If you are staying at Breezes skip diving with the snotty people at Ocean Encounters and do your diving with The Dive Bus. They really love what they do and it shows in every aspect of their operation. New

Okay... sitting here after having shovelled snow for the last 3/4 hour - how do I write how wonderful my holiday was with you guys???
Just wanted to pass on my thanks and priase for this past week, having just returned from an amazing week in Curacao, made all the more enjoyable by all of you at The Dive Bus. It was awesome.
I was the travel agent for the group of nearly 70 people from Tim's Diving Supplies. In typical fashion, I forgot about booking my own stuff but Suzy to the rescue! Everything was firmed up in a matter of a few short emails, and on arrival I was greeted with a warm and welcoming smile!
The week went off without any real problems which was truly a feat extraordinare considering the size of the group we dropped on you. Everyone at The Dive Bus went the extra mile to make the week what it was: truly one of the best diving weeks I've had. it was as if we were part of the family.
I will DEFINITELY be referring all of my colleagues to you for their clients, as the service was just top notch! All too often we fail to take the time to give and only to complain, so hats off to a top notch outfit!
Thanks to Mark for a great dive on the Superior Producer - it was a fantastic end to a great week.
Thanks to all of you for everything. If you're ever in need of a snow holiday, I'll swap spots with you! Hoping to be back again in the near future.

The individual attention was great and Camilla was an outstanding divemaster.

Great dive operation serving amazing dive sites. Small, personal attention
Mark & Suzy are a very nice husband-wife team with a unique concept for a dive operator -- on an island known for great shore diving, pick you up at your hotel and drive you to the best dive sites.
They definitely know what they're doing -- trips tend to be small and the diving on Curacao is phenomenal (best soft coral we've ever seen). We'll definitely be back!

We absolutely enjoyed "The Dive Bus" experience and service.
Having been fortunate to dive all across the Caribbean, The Dive Bus rates right among the tops.
Already saw the photos you posted on Facebook, reminiscing the days they were taken. I will try to post some of the underwater photos of the beautiful marine life of Curacao,  taken by yours truly:) on your Facebook page.
Many thanks again

We arrived back in Canada very early yesterday morning. Back to reality and planning the Ice Diving course for March 13 & 14. Today is a light snow and a warm +2C. If this keeps up, we won't have ice in March.
We can't 'tank' you enough for making our holiday a memorable one. We have seen your wonderful pictures on your website and we're sure you're resting up from your Canadian experience.

The dive trip was the best I have ever been on!
It was awesome to see the colors and the creatures. We don't have those things here in Lake Erie or Lake Ontario. Underwater visibility here is considered terrific if goes 10 feet! No bright colors, only brown and green. Good ship wrecks up here in the lakes though.
I'm glad you were so gracious and friendly when my friend Jerry did his certification dives. They way your staff presented themselves gave me confidence to schedule a trip with the dive bus. I'm a beginner diver and Fokker really did an excellent job catering to my inexperience and instilled the confidence I needed for the dive. I felt safe with him all the way. Excellent man you have.

Thank you,

Thank you for your note.  It was great hearing from you, it brought back so many good memories.  It was wonderful to be able to get Joe certified while we were there, thank you so much for your help.  The pictures are great.
Every chance that I get I'm promoting your operation in Curacao.  It would be nice to do a trip with Scuba 2000 to Curacao and of course diving with The Dive Bus.  It would likely result in you hearing "GREAT DIVE EH!!!!" about 10 times a day. But that's the way we talk eh.

Diving with you was nothing but great fun while we learned new things about diving and the underwater world around Curacao.  You are able to keep it light and fun and make every customer feel like they're the only one.  Never once did I feel rushed or herded about, except maybe from my own family, ha ha.

I've attached a couple of photos.  If you want to use them please feel free. Let me know if you are unable to open them and I can resend them via Facebook or something.

I had a wonderful time at the DIVE BUS.  Your welcome was warm and you made me feel like I was visiting old friends.  Diving with Mark was awesome, he explained our dive in advance along with his hand signals and was most patient with me as I got comfortable diving again.
And for sure, Mark knows that reef like the back of his hand.  We saw so much that first dive - moray eels, reef squid, a large school of blue tangs, as well as the usual colorful fish.  I saw more soft corals on your reef than any other reef I've dived in the Caribbean - Cozumel, St Thomas, St Maarten included.
I loved all the sponges and Elk coral and Stag coral.  It was a most memorable dive.  And then after our second dive - and seeing that red FROG fish - and just relaxing over a couple of POLAR BEERS and chatting with Mark and yourself, really relaxing.
I hope to get back soon and I will most certainly dive with you again!  May blue skies and sunshine follow you every day!

The Dive Bus is a MUST!
I spent Christmas 2009 on Curacao. I signed up to dive with The Dive Bus since Curacao is famous for shore diving.
I strongly recommend diving with this outfit. They keep their groups small - 6 to 8 divers.
The dive instructors are great. I stayed at the Marriott and they picked me up and dropped me off - all in all, my vacation was fabulous.
The dive sites on Curacao are beautiful! Don't miss out on a great dive - these guys are wonderful.

Congratulations with your five years of having fun with The Dive Bus! We hope you will go on forever at "your" nice reef. Have a nice evening with your Disco Dive. We are stuck in the foggy and cold Lowlands and really unhappy NOT to be there as well..... :-(

And "thanks" for having us infected with the Mexican diving desease. We have to dive and had to buy our own gear and drysuit to get better. Next Friday is our first drysuit dive in the swimming pool and the next day into 9 degrees C. open water. As you know there is no visibility and not the bright colours as we used to see at your place but we are looking forward to it.

Great Shore Diving

We came to Curacao off season looking for help with a shore dive. Mark and Suzy were more than willing to  help us put something together just for the two of us. Did a wonderful shoredive at Tugboat.

They also helped get us back into the dive groove. We had not been diving for 18 months. Very knowlegeable and very hospitable. We had a great time on a marvelous reef.

What magazine am I going to see you next in?
Please tell Barry Brown "awesome job and great work".

Seems so long ago we were diving in the beautiful waters of CURACAO with the GREATEST people at THE DIVE BUS.

I have finally put together a web link of pictures and trying to put the final touches on it also, but here is the start of it. Please forward to Gerard and Angelique that we dove with at Directors Bay with Mark.

Just received our copy of SCUBA DIVING magazine and saw Mark's helicopter experience he was talk about during our visit (wish they would have mentioned THE DIVE BUS for you).  Mark was talking about how much fun it was to do that.

Finally, The Dive Bus BONAIRE trip in Sept/Oct 10 - keep us in mind.  Just need to know as early as possible to book our flights from the States.

It's only been 5 weeks and feels like such a long time ago we were there, but you gave us so much to remember and new people we can call friends. Tell Bas and Judith hello.

Keep in touch,

Stop Looking, DIVE HERE

Mark and Suzy were FANTASTIC!

We dove on 4 different days with them and have nothing bad to say. Water was cool and clear, the staff was friendly & fun and our new friends were the best people we met.

Pick up and drop off at hotel, small tours of the island to and from the dive site locations and the conversations during surface intervals or just hanging out at The Dive Bus hut were fun too!

Small diving operation with small groups that engage in your participation and well being (no cattling of divers here). WE WILL RETURN AND DIVE AGAIN, ONLY WITH "THE DIVE BUS"

We had an absolutely wonderful first time shore-diving experience in the Carbibean. Even after reading all the great reviews about the Dive Bus staff and the quality diving located at your door step... it doesn't prepare you for the superb diving location located just outside your bay's sea wall.
I was amazed at all the critters we saw after spending 2 dives exploring Car Pile!!
This was an ideal arrangement for the cruise ship schedule. The only regret we had was rushing off after our final dive to get back to the ship. We wanted to visit more!!
Mike and I plan to come back and stay on the island for 4-5 days of shore diving with you.
See you soon!!

So sad to say hello from this side; wish we were still there.

We both had some GREAT diving and met some NEW FRIENDS along the way (say hi to Bas and Judith, HAHA).

Just to show you I did not forget, here are a few of my 2.87 GB of pictures with my NEW UNDERWATER CAMERA (I know Bas and Mark got tired of hearing about it, but the pictures turned out INCREDIBLE with Mark's added help of how to take better pictures).

Thanks again for the great diving and new friends. We LOVE to dive with good people - let me know when you find someone for us, ha ha!

Ratings and Overall Comments out of 5 stars:

Shore diving: 5 stars
Value for money: 5 stars
If you are looking for a small, friendly, laid back, professional dive operation, you will find no better place to dive than at The Dive Bus.
Mark and Suzy go out of their way to see you have safe and enjoyable experience. Mark is very safety conscious with detailed dive plans (dive objectives, environment, fish to identify, depth limitations) along with a buddy check (BWRAF) prior to each dive.
I did 8 dives with Mark with one being a night dive. Most of the dives were at the edge of the reef located at their dive shop. This reef is excellent (both coral and fish life) and can be dove over and over again without being boring.
On the night dive we saw ruby brittle stars mating, two octopus and a couple of small squid. We dove Directors Bay (a wall dive) and saw a few well hidden scorpion fish.
My last dive with The Dive Bus was a true awesome experience. Mark and I were asked by Barry Brown, a professional photographer in Curacao, to participate in a heli-dive photo shoot.  The shoot went as planned thanks to professional planning by Barry (www.coralreefphotos.com) and George (www.blueskieshelicopter.com).
I had such an enjoyable time that my wife and I are already planning to return next summer with our sons.

Most friendly dive center with a very nice house reef!
5 Star Rating
Visit Date: May 2009

The last day of our stay we discovered this dive centre near the Pierbaai Reef and the Car Pile.

We first met with the owner of the dive centre, Mark, a British guy, who was very friendly. We immediately decided to do a dive with them.

Later that day we went for the dive. Prices were on the high side, but the rental equipment was in excellent condition. We dove with Crowley, another very friendly British guy. We hadn't seen a green moray eel all week, so we asked him to look out for it and so he did. We found a giant green moray eel at the Car Pile Reef, which we later heard was their so-called 'house moray' named George. Visibility was great and we were as lucky to spot some Big Tarpons at the Pierbaai Reef as well.

When we were back home they mailed us the photo's of that day. Now whenever I have a question about Curacao or diving in general, I e-mail them and they always come up with the answers I am looking for.

All in all, one of the best dive centres I've ever visited.

Thank YOU for giving us such an enjoyable introduction to scuba diving.  Also thank you Mark for being such a patient, clear, and easygoing instructor; thank you Suzy for being patient with all my emails; and thank you both for being such fun and awesome people.
Really we had such a great time doing this and it was because you made it that way for us.  The photo is great; I'll make sure to tag myself (rachel has yet to join FB) and join your FB group, as well as sign up for the updates.
We would have loved to do some more diving but unfortunately Monday was our last day in Curacao.  We're going to take Mark's advice and look into getting certified, and we'd like to come back and either complete our certification with you or accompany you guys on some Dive Bus trips.

Everything was really perfect from start to finish; thank you for making our experience so wonderful.

Even now, after our holiday on Curacao has been finished, we are thinking back of the wonderful time with you very often.

Your friendliness, your wit, your uncomplicated ways as well as the fantastic dives - all this led to a marvellous "atmosphere of feeling comfortable".

For us,there can only be one address when it comes to diving on Curacao: The Dive Bus.

Many thanks from the "Team Tovar" especially from Mathieu who has taken you into his heart forever. "Gut so!"
PS: Suzy, your "vodka" in the fresh water tank was really excellent, and Mark, in Denmark you can go diving very well, too.

Great picture - THANKS!
We had the best time.  I told my wife that this was the best vacation that I have ever had, in all of my life.  She wasn't very pleased with that statement. So I promised to bring her to Curacao next year.  What am I thinking?
I have to tell you as a beginner I must confess to being somewhat, well, what's the word?  Oh Yeah - terrified - about what nasties we might encounter on the dives, as well as, what happens if I panic 10 - 15 feet below the surface of the water.

Well thanks to the staff at the Dive Bus I was absolutely enthralled with the sea life that we observed at depths of 60 feet.  I may not have been the most graceful diver that you have seen thus far, but I am hooked on the sport - this I attribute largely to how you guys treated us.

Thanks again!

Excerpt from review (go here for full review):

My wife and I just returned from a week in Curacao. Not a whole lot of different dive sites to report on since we only dove one all week,
Pierbaai Reef down to Car Pile... My wife and I had 12 dives each up to this point and had never dived without a DM. So this was a great chance for us to get out on our own.

We dove with Mark and Suzy from
The Dive Bus. I cannot say enough good stuff about Suzy and Mark. Amazing people and extremely helpful. We loved the House Reef (Pierbaai) so much we just dove it all week. It was what we REALLY got into diving for. Taking our own time and enjoying long bottom times. Saw lots of great critters.

Looking back, we probably would have dove a few more places, but we really got out of the trip what we wanted. And it was up to us and our pace, which was GREAT! Again, Mark and Suzy from
The Dive Bus made us feel right at home. They answered any questions we had and really made us feel like their shop was our own private diving center. Make sure you eat next door at Surf & Turf also, the Chicken Sate is amazing!

I discovered last year I have a tendency to get sea sick during surface intervals on boat dives. It is my understanding, that almost any dive site around Curacao is accessible from shore. If not most, a huge number! (similar to Bonaire). So finding
The Dive Bus was great because they'll take you by bus (actually it's a nice big van... but really, The Dive Van just doesn't sound as good) to tons of sites around the island. They'll even allow you to follow them in your own car. They really do a great job of helping you with whatever you want to do.
My wife and I have really been wanting to start diving on our own rather than pay a DM every time or all the expense that comes with boat dives. Granted they (DM's) show you some neat stuff, but we prefer to take our own time and a lot of times just sit and watch a small coral head. When you're with a group on a boat dive it's hard to do that. Mark and Suzy at The Dive Busreally helped us feel safe with venturing out on our own. Giving us tips and suggestions. It was just what we needed.

Conclusion:
The Dive Bus: two thumbs up and really want to return to dive with them.

I had a great time. The dive was a breeze, mainly because Mark took away most of my nerves with his fun way of explaining things. Am seriously thinking about a follow up course (PADI) now.
The photos are nice too, although they do make me think that I am in bad need of some exercise! (Mental note: don't wear wetsuit to party tonight).
Thanks again for your hospitality. If any questions arise during the writing of the interview, I will drop you a line.

Thank you(!) for a great last dive on your fantastic island! We flew back to Holland yesterday and we already miss it over there!
We must say we really like the relaxing "gear up whenever you feel like it" and "do you want a cup of coffee before getting busy?"-attitude!
We were pretty annoyed by the fact that we hadn't seen a green moray eel yet on our previous dives, so we quite enjoyed meeting your "house" giant green moray George :) The Car Pile was fun as well, especially with Crowley "driving" one of the old car wrecks with a couple of tarpons swimming in the distance.
After the coming two years in Australia we are probably going to live on Curaçao for at least a year or so, so we'll certainly be in touch!
Take care and keep up the good "work" :) Thanks again for a gr8 dive!

We just completed a trip of diving with the Dive Bus. Hands down there is NO other place that will take care of you like the Dive Bus. Thanks for a great week, Mark and Suzy. I wouldn’t think twice of recommending them to any of my friends. The personal service goes above and beyond.

My beach entry dive off The Dive Bus hut was one of the best dives I have had in the past 20 years.
Recently, my dives have included Aruba, St Kitts, Bermuda, Tortola and a few other Caribbean islands. Personally, I felt the sea life, colors, clarity, richness, and coral paralleled Cozumel.  Ellie was my dive master, and she was very professional, safe, and laid back. I kinda' felt like I was diving out of my backyard because Ellie was so welcoming. After the dive, Ellie drove me next door (though you could easily walk) to the Kon-Tiki beach, where there is excellent swimming, snorkeling, and food.

While I was diving with Ellie, my wife and daughters were shopping, and they really enjoyed Curacao as well. So, now we're hoping to make it back the The Dive Bus for a week long series of dives for me and lots of beaching and shopping for the girls.

Hope you are all keeping well!
Well, we've settled back into our routine here at home. Every day we think of our diving experience with the Dive Bus.  (Gene dreams about it every day!).
We will always have fond memories of our dives with both Mark and Crowley.
First dive, experiencing Crowley's breakdance move, the head spin. Our second dive with Mark, guess what we seen?  A pod of dolphins... and did I mention the dolphins!
Endless great dives! All and all a great time, and what wonderful people you are!  Friendly, courteous and laid back!  Just the way we like life!
Hope to go back to dive with you again -- very soon!

It's been now over a week that we left Curacao and came back to cold New Jersey. We wanted to thank you guys for your level of personal service which made us feel like diving with friends rather than a business.
Thanks also to Ellie for the recommendation of "Janchees" in Westpunt. I have to admit that initially I was not really sure to trust a restaurant/food recommendation of an English person....  ;o)   hahahahahaaaaa

We will be back diving in Curacao with you guys in the near future.

A HUGE thank you to Mark, Suzy, Crowley, and Jesper for showing us the best side of diving in Curacao. The diving was AMAZING!!! Virtually every dive was 79 degrees F or warmer and 80 ft vis.
In our opinion, if you are looking for that custom, small group, friendly, knowledgeable dive experience, THE DIVE BUS is the best option for diving in Willemstad and around the island. We loved hanging out with them so much, we even hung out when we were not diving. Nothing better than a couple Polars after a night dive. ;)
Thank you Mark and Crowley for introducing us to night diving. Can’t wait to get back to the ZEN.
We really had an amazing time with you guys and hope to be back as soon as possible. (Next week sounds good to us, just can't convince the boss!) LOL

I just want to say how amazing you guys are.
I was on a cruise for my honeymoon last week and we came to you guys to snorkel.  My wife and I were out around the rocks when my wedding ring slipped off and when we got back to shore and told you guys that, a diving trip was going out and they offered to look for it.
Amazingly, it was found and I am forever grateful to Kathy, the woman who found the ring and to you guys at The Dive Bus.  We told the cruise ship how great you guys were so maybe they will recommend you and we are telling anyone we know who comes to the area to stop by and see you.
I will definitelty be back to see you after I get my wife certified to dive.

And special thanks goes out to Mark for his patience and fun during my Scuba Diver Certification course!  My friends really adore the "special" ok sign!  We used it later last week in other dives.

Well, I just want to emphasize what an awesome time I had with y'all!  Thanks so much for being so cool and chill (hope that American english makes sense....:)) and I will definitely recommend you all to anyone I know going to Curacao!

I had a great time diving with you. I have told other people about your dive operation and highly recommended you. I think your operation was fun, easy going, and very friendly as well as safe. I don't know when I will return to Curacao (greatly enjoyed it but always wanting to try somewhere new each year), but when I do, I look forward to diving with you again soon.

On another note; I don't know if I told you but I am a veterinary technician specialist in emergency and critical care. I found it extremely admirable what you are doing to help out the stray dogs on the island. I have mentioned what you are doing to senior management and veterinarians at my workplace in hopes of finding an organization that may be willing to help out. No promises, but if I can find some help I will definitely send it your way.

Take care and happy diving! Thanks again for a great time!

Nothing compares to the friendly atmosphere of your dive operation! I always love the feeling I get swimming out with my back to the ocean watching the shore getting further away getting ready to slip beneath the surface and explore Curacaos magical reefs.
I know I will be back again and look forward to seeing all of you (including the doggies).

Thanks again for the enjoyable dives!  We all had a lot of fun and are looking forward to our next visit.  Unfortunately, I doubt it will be in 10 months like this past trip.  :-(
I've got to honestly say that each one of our trips to Curacao has been better than the last.  You try so hard to make your guest's dives the best they can be and it shows.  The difference was also so very obvious after the boat trip we took on Sunday with the Breezes dive shop.  The non diving is great too!

The Dive Bus provided the best diving on my Caribbean vacation.
They have taken care of their coral reef which has live coral and all the animals that go with it.
Their equipment was in good condition and they watch your stuff while you are in the water.
The folks there were a lot of fun and very accomodating.  I only regret that I had only one day with them.

Thank you all for a fantastic time!! Thanx for the photos too, nice :)
It was a true pleasure meeting everyone at the Dive Bus. Suzy and Mark have a great scuba business and the most awesome crew! Everyone there was very helpful, flexible, easy going and has a great sense of humor.
Ellie worked with my sister on her Advanced dive certification and is a fantastic instructor! My sister was nervous at first, however Ellie quickly eased her anxiety with her calmness, patience, sense of humor, easy going personality... she is a real pleasure to have as an instructor - you rock, Ellie!
Jesper and Mark, I can't thank you enough for your patience. When I hurt my back, but REALLY didn't want to quit diving, you both helped me out with my gear. You both are awesome!!
We both had a fantastic dive experience with The Dive Bus and we highly recommend you to anyone who wants to have a safe and fun diving experience on Curacao!!
Although we would like to visit Curacao again, we are leaning towards somewhere in the South Pacific. Can you just come with us on our next trip????

Thank you to the Dive Bus Crew for a wonderful first experience of diving! Special thanks to Ellie, my instructor. She was very relaxed and fun, yet professional and competent which was great for giving me confidence in the water.

The Dive Bus is a great organisation with friendly, helpful staff. The location is superb and we saw so many beautiful fish. They struck me as being very keen to accomodate everyone's requests at the drop of a hat. You soon become part of the family and always welcome to join them for a beer at the end of the day.

And Curacao: a gem of an island perhaps unfairly overlooked in favour of more popular Caribbean retreats. I'd recommend it to anyone!

Our wonderful cruise is over and the reality of the bleak, midwest winter is held at bay by so many great memories. Right at the top is our day spent with The Dive Bus. Everyone was so friendly and helpful - right down to the dogs!

Ellie is a a great dive leader. My two dives were relaxed and filled with so much beauty. I was overwhelmed at the volume of Christmas Tree worms. Maryann thoroughly enjoyed Mark's guided snorkle tour. She was excited about seeing so many different varieties around the breakwall.

As a dive professional, I enjoyed watching Suzy and Mark run what has turned into a great business.  Listening to Mark's easy to understand start of a Discover Scuba class was a great example of making students feel at ease.

No wonder you have the positive reputation that you do on my favorite bulletin boards.  I'll definitely be adding my thumbs up for others to ready.

We'll definitely be repeat customers the next time we are in Curacao!

Take care!

I would like to thank you for a perfect day of diving on Curacao!
Your operation proved to be most accommodating and provided more than enough flexibility to meet the needs of each diver.
The reef was in fantastic shape and there were numerous "critters" to keep me entertained.
In short, The Dive Bus proved itself to be far superior when compared with other dive operators encountered on this trip!

Thank YOU for making two great weeks even better! The Dive Bus (ie you guys) rocks! Never thought I would enjoy diving that much again... who would have thought it was all about the company?!
The pictures are gonna come in handy to plaster all over my office when my knock-out tan fades (yes, my colleagues kind of hate me and I propably won't get a raise). But who cares, I'm thinking of setting up my own business here in Stockholm, the-snow-bus ;) I was thinking I could drive a bunch of people (well, 4 at least since I only have a mitsubishi colt) out in the woods and then let them sit and look at birds or something while drinking Polar. What do you think about that idea?!
Again, thanks for everything, it was so great to meet you!

Subject: Best dive experience EVER

I'm actually writing to rave over how much fun I had on my dive back in Jan/08.

I'm one of those casual divers who tends to take a refesher course every two years and then get in a few dives, so having a casual and relaxed atmosphere is crucial.

The day before landing in Curacao I had a fairly bad experience in Aruba. The dive masters were bored, and basically just swam beside us.

Imagine the joy I felt when Mark started briefing us on what his hand signals meant for all of the wildlife he was going to FIND for us. The difference was night and day. I can't wait to get back and spend a whole week diving with Mark.

Next to learning how to dive in Australia (and that's only up there because it was my first experinence) it was the best time I've had diving.

Mark and Suzy were very helpful setting up the day's diving. I had limited time so that was important. Very professional and laid back at the same time. Best type of diving experience.
Dives were great lots of healthy coral and sea life. Mark's underwater signal for a seahorse is a sight not be be missed or easily forgotten ( I thought he was having a seizure).

Thanks for doing everything right and see you guys again.

Subject: The Dive Bus - Consistently Awesome!!
Link to review: tripadvisor.com
We recently returned from our third diving trip with The Dive Bus and once again they delivered all that was promised and more...

On the first day we dove (led by Tim) at Pierbaai which is their home reef to get our fins "wet" again. This reef always has a variety of sea life as well as beautiful corals and juveniles to watch. While visiting on this trip we took several Dive Bus 2 tank trips including Vaersenbaai, Tugboat, Porto Marie and Director's Bay, and we also took a couple one tank dives at Double Reef and the Marriot.

The Dive Bus staff is always professional and knowledgeable about the dive sites and they are punctual and prepared for each dive site they visit. Oh yes and they also make the dive trip as relaxing and fun as possible.

If you are looking to continue your training, The Dive Bus is also great place to learn. This year my husband and I decided to complete our Rescue Diver course. We did this in the middle of our visit so we had time to adjust before hand and recoop afterwards:) We chose to do our PADI EFR at home and bring the card with us, but we could have done that at The Dive Bus too.
The confined water training is done in the sheltered portion of Pierbaai (not in a pool), and the staff works with you to practice each skill until you are comfortable. The final scenarios were completed at Pierbaai also, and although they proved challenging, we felt like we had learned alot when we were through. We learned both about ourselves and about which skills were easy and more challenging for us, but we also learned about the nuances, both positive and negative of our equipment.

The Dive Bus does a great job of training their courses and takes great pride in certifying good divers. They will answer any questions you may have both before, during and after the visit. We will definitely use The Dive Bus for our next trip, and look forward to seeing all of the great people we have met both at and around The Dive Bus hut.
Thank -you Mark, Suzy and Tim and the rest of the Dive Bus gang for another awesome dive trip.

Thank you so much for a wonderful vacation July 19-26 2008.
We were considering going to Cozumel or Grand Cayman. We only came to Curacao after reading a review about you on line. The reviews were spot on. I am glad I found out about you.
I was greeted like I was a longtime friend and it only got better from there. From the first e-mail asking about reservations to settling my account at the end of the week was a breeze.
If people try you once, I can't understand why they would ever go with anyone else. Friendly staff, easy relaxed atmosphere, and a general all around good time are what sets good operations apart. You have all this and more.
Mark, my daughter is hooked and we can't wait to come back next year and get her certified. Many thanks to Terri for taking my wife to get medicine for my son. We will be back next year and hopefully many years to come.

Just wanted to thank you for all I learned over the last couple of days. The EFR course last week was good, and I wished I had taken this before. Everyone should. Mark made the class fun, but got down to business teaching us the necessary steps and skills.
Tim was an excellent instructor over the 2 days of the PADI Rescue Diver course and has made me "think" about what to do in various situations. He was very patient and helped us to get the skills "right", reviewing what we will do and how we performed afterwards. He was very clear and concise. I went home later in the afternoon and still thought about out final situation and again the morning.
Thanks to Suzy for being a great victim........again and again. Glad she "recovered" each and every time:) Also, thanks to my partner Irina. It really helped doing this with someone else, as you learn from each other.....the mistakes and things that went well, through observation and working together.

I'd recommend this course for anyone and everyone.

All the best

Thanks again for a wonderful time while in Curacao.
As usual the diving was exceptional and even better than last year!!  I really enjoyed the dive at Director's and that will be on the list for next year as well.  Also meeting up with Bob and his family made things that much more enjoyable.
The wheels are turning to make a return on 09' (with the family - forget work).
I would also send Tim a beer if I could, he was a great divemaster, guide and all round good chap, and very patient and a pleasure to dive with.  More drinks in the cooler for next year!!!!!

We all wanted to say thank you for making our family vacation to Curacao wonderful.  You were our first introduction to Curacao and it could not have been better.  Thank you for the hospitality, friendship, and knowledge of snorkeling, diving, and the island in general.  WHAT A GREAT FIND THE DIVE BUS IS!
Tim, you are incredible-Cody wants to say "THANK YOU for the AMAZING experience".  For a 13 year old,
that in itself says so much! He loves diving, as you already know, and has done research on where to
follow-up to get certified, learn more about the equipment and costs, and great dive locations.  Guess
he's hooked after only a few hours with you.
We all enjoyed Caracasbaai and the Tugboat, well except Tony.  He'll have to see it next time!
I personally want to thank you for your patience and help in conquering a life-long fear of the water.  I'm
forever a snorkeler and hope to be a diver someday thanks to you.

Our family HIGHLY recommends The Dive Bus for a fantastic time while in Curacao!!!  You provided
wonderful adventures for our family of 5.  The knowledge, environmental awareness, friendliness
and passion for the island and what you do is incredible.

We can't thank you enough for making our vacation a wonderful one once again for the third year in a row. You were able to fit everything we wanted to do into your schedule. Its a pleasure diving with such a great team!
I wish that we could get together more than just once a year so I could try and get better with my photos and not make the same dumb mistakes. It was also nice getting together with Mike again.
Thank you again for such a great time. Hope to see ya again next year -Chris and Tyler are already planning!
Take care,

Tim and Suzy - I had an incredible time diving with you.  I have started to tell folks that I finally get what a coral reef is and what a big deal it is.   I have been diving in California all my life – we like the kelp forests a lot, but even my time in Cozumel and Caymans looks nothing like the reef in your backyard.

I very much enjoyed you both and your hospitality and would love to dive with you again.

Thanks to the folks on the Rodale dive forum for helping me find you and having a great cruise ship dive with you.

Hello everybody,
Just wanted to say thanks for everything. Our trip was excellent.
I responded to a post in scubaboard forum Greater Caribbean and Bermuda/lesser antilles/abc islands/curacao diving, lodging and dining recommendations for early July/#13.
If you plan a trip to S Florida, look us up.
Thanks again,

Jon's review on Scubaboard.com:
"Just got back from Curacao last week. The Sea Aquarium Resort was excellent, however it is a time share. Right next door was Lions Dive Resort, it looked great. If you enjoy shore diving, get hooked up with The Dive Bus. We rented equipment from them and had a great time, they provided us with information on all the dive locations, places to eat, night life, and the island in general. The shore diving that we did all had easy access, all had dive shops on site and snack bar/restaurant.

It was nice to dive, hang out for an hour or two, dive again and relax and have some food and drinks. By the way, you can easily eat for that price. They have McD's, Burger King, KFC, Pizza Hut. But the local restaurants are affordable as well. We ate at the Rib Factory (recommended by the Dive Bus) and the food was great. Also for breakfast/lunch try DeliFrance, coffee, espresso, croissants etc.

If you are going to shore dive, get the drive and dive map, it's the best map of the island. Available at the Dive Bus.

Always ask if prices are in florins/guilders or US dollars, most of the time they are posted but sometimes not.

If you rent a car make sure it has a trunk, if you leave things in the car that are visible, we were told they might not be there when we got back. Storing extra tanks is a necessity. All of the shore dives we did had facilities, but some do not. If you dive tugboat, do not go before 10:00 AM. The site is a vertical wall and the sun does not shine on the wall before 10:00 or so.

Have a great time, Hook up with the Dive Bus, you won't be disapointed."

We've been back home for a month and we still think about our Curacao diving vacation every day. We especially have to rave about the treatment provided by The Dive Bus.
As other people have posted, Mark, Suzy, and Tim immediately feel like old friends. They love what they're doing, they know their stuff, and they're genuinely friendly people who go to the limit to accommodate their guests' needs - just like old friends would do.
We did five dives with them, and can honestly say they were some of the most pleasant and comfortable dives we've ever had (we've each logged about 150). As close to a "zen-like" experience as you're going to have while diving. The reefs are beautiful, the pace is leisurely from start to finish, and yet the briefings are thorough and professional.

It was exactly the dive experience we were looking for in Curacao. We can't recommend The Dive Bus more highly.
Thanks so much!

My wife and I did 2 dives with Dive Bus as well as rented equipment for our own dives.
Dive Bus is great!  They make you feel very comfortable and like you're long lost friends the moment you show up.  Mark took us to Tugboat and we did 2 dives there.   Both were great.
At the end of the 2nd dive we saw a huge Green Moray Eel trapped in fish line under a pole. Mark whipped out his knife and freed the eel.  It was amazing.  We had dived Tugboat before but not with Mark.  He is great at finding sea life to show you.
Back at the "office" Suzy took great care of us.  She even called other dive shops for us when it turned out they couldn't do a night dive for us.  She tried to find us one with another company!  How many dive shops would do that?  And when we showed up to dive at the house reef and mentioned how our 7-month old kept us awake half the night, she made us coffee!! (And Suzy is also a riot, by the way.)
Terri booked everything for us and took our money at the end with a smile.
I've done dives with about 5 different Curacao dive shops and Dive Bus is the best.  We're even thinking of doing our advanced open water dives with them next year.  Thank you Dive Bus!  Can't wait to come back!!!

I recommend you use The Dive Bus. I just got back from a trip to Curacao a few weeks ago and loved the diving with them. I originally was signed up to do 4 days of diving with Ocean Encounters (located at Lions Dive) and 2 days with The Dive Bus. After my first day of diving with The Dive Bus I changed that to 3 days each. (Honestly, if I could have totally cancelled with Ocean Encounters I would have) I was even staying at the Lions Dive which is where Ocean Encounters is located).
I did not like the DM on the Ocean Encounters boat for 2 of the days of diving with them. He gave almost no safety briefing and the dive briefing was "we are going to go to the right for 25 minutes and then come back for 25 minutes". He also did not look back at the divers on the dive or point out almost anything. (The DM on the Friday dive to the Superior Producer was good and did full dive briefings).
The Dive Bus however was GREAT. The diving at their house reef is beautiful, they did comprehensive dive briefings, pointed out lots of sealife on the dives, were excited about diving, and pleasant to be around on the surface. I actually did a total of 5 dives at their house reef (4 daytime and 1 night) and still didn't see the entire reef. (There is a lot of sealife there). The one day trip I did with them was amazing. I can't say enough about Mark, Suzy, and Tim at The Dive Bus.
With regards to cost, my 3 days of diving with The Dive Bus were considerably cheaper than Ocean Encounters.
Regardless of who you chose, enjoy Curacao!

I'm back home in Maryland after my first day back at work. I spent the day daydreaming.
I got my open water cert with Dive Bus in Curacao, along with my advanced diver training. A great time, 2 tank dives 5 out of 6 days. I couldn't believe how beautiful everything was just steps from shore.
On Saturday Dogenia was my dive buddy, a great photographer that posts on this site. He took some great pics at the Tugboat. I can't stop looking at them.
Mark, Suzy and Tim at the Dive Bus were great instructors and DM. I'll have to make time and money to do it again. I didn't even get enough time on the reef right at the Dive Bus site. I saw a huge ray, barracuda, turtle, huge moray eel, seahorse, more than I can keep track of. Tough choice, go back to Curacao or look for other spots.

Thank you for your photos as well as a great time my kids and I will never forget.  As I said when we were there, you guys lived up to your reputation as a great dive shop.  I'll be sure to write up my own review as soon as I get caught up in the real world and will pass along the link when I do.

EXCERPT FROM REVIEW:
I just returned from a week on the Adventure of the Seas ... based on numerous good reports and reviews about "The Dive Bus", I arranged to dive with them on this stop. They did not fail to live up to their reputation!
They are a very professional outfit run by very nice, friendly people (Suzy and Mark). The arrangements were all made in advance via email with Suzy....
...One of the highlights of this stop was that my two daughters, ages 12 and 14, were going to dive for the first time doing a "Discover Scuba" course. The way I had arranged things was for me to do a guided shore dive on their "house reef" while my girls went through the land based portion of their course. Then, I would join them for the Discover dive...
...After gearing up and getting in the water we had a very short swim (10 kicks maybe) to the drop off point were we descended in about 10 feet of water. We made our way out to the further of the two sites on their house reef which is called "The Car Pile". This is just what it sounds like but since the cars have been down so long, all that's really left are the frames and bumpers. Very nice dive though with beautiful hard and soft corals on the way out and back as well as a huge number and variety of fish. The bottom time on this dive was about 42 minutes with a max depth of 101 fsw. As the entrance to the dive bus hut's cove is in shallow water, we were were able to do a long swimming safety stop on the way in....
...Once everyone was ready to go, we headed back out to the reef. Mark was very attentive to the students while at the same time pointing out the interesting things to see on the reef. My kids did great and are now hooked...
The Dive Bus has very nice rental equipment with weight integrated BCs which is a nice touch. They took a bunch of pictures for us with their camera and copied them to my memory card when we were done (for no charge). Mark also took some underwater pictures of us with my camera. Their prices were very reasonable. We'll definately be back.

Okay so I am a bit late in writing, but we got back from Spring Break and then I was off to Hawaii.   I just got back in town and wanted to send you a quick note for the dive on April 2nd.   The kids really liked the way you paid attention to them and made them feel comfortable.

Anyway thanks again for your time and guidance.   Also, the Iguana Cafe was a good recommendation for lunch.

Take care .. Hope to see you again someday.

I can't say enough good things about the Dive Bus!! My partner did her open water test with them and had a great experience. We also did some dives with them throughout our stay and had a good time. They were so accomdating in hearing what we were interseted in seeing/doing and merged that with our skill level and the weather conditions to showed us a fabulous time. They were on time picking us up from our hotel (Kura Hulanda). From there we were taken to our dive site, did our first dive, had a nice picnic lunch as part of our dive package and jump in after a nice rest for the second dive. After a quick stop back at the shop to rinse our gear off, we were dropped off at the hotel front door.

All that and we laughed our butts off too (see exhibit A - the cheese bra picture).
One day we did rent a car and it was easy enough to drive around and jump in. I do have to say going out with the Dive Bus folks first was a good orientation to the marine life and they were really good about letting us know which beaches were safer and better than others.
Have fun!!

If you don't feel comfortable with a [rental] car, call the Dive Bus. This is a shop that picks you up, pampers you to death, feeds you and drops you off at your hotel after you have a beer with them at their shop at Pierbaai.
Mark & Suzy are among the nicest people on the island. Just make sure you call in advance....

...You should ONLY dive with 'the Dive Bus' in Curacao, which is virtually next door [to Breezes].
I went there alone and made new friends, had a ball diving and saw heaps of stuff; they have great DM's and their schedules are pretty flexible; in other words, they give a s**t, and are reasonably priced...and the house reef at night in front of the Dive Bus Hut is sensational...

... Tim was a wonderful guide for Maria and myself. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Roel was also most serviceable and he hit it off with Maria as they discussed ecosystems and the wonders of marine life while dad and Tim got down to some real diving. Thanks to his persuasiveness I was able to see Caribbean Squid, a first for me in 30 + years of diving!!!
Curacao was wonderful and we certainly will return...
Cheers and have a Happy Easter.

I returned from Curacao last Sunday. I was able to do 17 dives in 6 days. Although I could have completed more dives had I stayed in one location I wanted to experience as much as I could in the short time available...
...Diving with The Dive Bus was an experience...we joined a group of 3 divers from a cruise ship. Dive Bus Tim took us to Vaersenbaai and then to Double Reef. Tim knows his stuff and realized we were not there to be babied. The Double Reef dive was an adventure combining a slimy, rocky, rough entry that turned into a surging, swirling, dive. The exit was a test to your balance and stamina - LOVED IT - LOVED IT - LOVED IT............

Thanks so much for another great visit... awesome dives, cold beer, and the blackmail pictures are too funny.  Love that one of me playing grabass with Keith.  I will have to post that one in my office!

Cassie (the young one) says she is getting certified...we got her hooked!  Please thank Mark for his patience with Bee...she did get it together for the other dives.

I decided to catch a cold just as we were leaving the ship, so I spent yesterday in bed, and am running around today like an idiot trying to get ready for work tomorrow, followed by a business trip.  I wish I was back down there with you!

I'll let you know when I get the write-up posted.

If you are staying at Breezes, you are better off going 'next door' and seeing the crew at the 'Dive Bus', they are one of the finest operators on the island (and reasonably priced for multiple packages); and have access to the entire island, they offer a far more personalised service as opposed to the operator at Breezes.

They also have all the kit for rent, so use them if it is less hassle. I did and all the equipment is fine.

Lonnie and I were at your place for a dive on 2/14.  Afterwards you filled us in on the best shore diving on the island - including the bird watching sites.  Thanks so much.  I had intended to stop in on our last day and buy you a beer but we simply ran out of time.  We found Curacao diving a "10" with excellent fish populations and great coral formations.

It's hard to pick favorites since all 23 dives that week were great but Director's Bay and Alice in Wonderland stand out.

Thanks again, very best,

Subject: Diving in Curacao

We recently had a wonderful dive vacation on the island of Curacao.  Unfortunately, in researching our trip there was very little current information about staying, eating and diving in Curacao.  Articles on several SCUBA boards was sparse, and the most complete dive guide was last updated in 1997.  As a result, many of the dive operators and restaurants are no longer in business, and there are several new resorts. I thought I'd send you a brief email about our experience there, and if you would like more information, please contact me.

Rob Damico

DIVING CURACAO 2008

We were really looking forward to our dive vacation in Curacao. Despite my recent attempts in Fiji, La Paz, Belize, Cayman, and several other destinations, I was never able to get my wife emerged in that mystical talisman; 80 degree water. We always seems to miss the mark by a degree or two. So, even though I finally hit my goal in Curacao, I was not expecting it to surpass even my wildest hopes in almost every category. But, since this is a dive publication, let's just deal with the diving.

In Curacao, we suffered the yin and yang of diving.  The experiences were so disparate, I want to take them separately. Let's start with the low end.

Ocean Encounters is a PADI 5 star facility located at the Lions Dive resort, and it is everything I've come to expect in a major dive operation. They were very professional, somewhat friendly, and were everything PADI lauds in its selected resorts. However, since I've been a dealer for the Aggressor Live Aboard vessels for several years now, I've come to expect more. Perhaps I'm spoiled.

First of all, Ocean Encounters runs a cattle boat. On our trip to the Mushroom Forrest there were 21 divers on the boat, plus the two dive guides. The slog out to the dive site was over an hour going, and close to two hours returning, so having that many divers cramped into this 40 foot plus vessel was a little tight. The dive guides on the boat were very nice and very professional, but I had the feeling that the moment I left the boat at the end of the day or week, they would never remember me. However, in all fairness, I'm sure it is impossible for them to get personally involved with each and every diver in their care; its just that my last several years of diving have not been in this type of environment, and as I said, I guess I'm spoiled.

Entry from the boat was simple, safe and professional, but that is where the dive, for me, went south.  The captain and crew decided that we would be doing a drift dive, despite the fact that once under water, there was not much current. The way the guides lead the dive is that one dive guide is in front with a dive flat extending to the surface to guide the ship, and the other guide following in back. All divers are to remain between the dive guides for the entire dive. Also, we were instructed that for the first dive we were to limit our depth to 60 feet, which is where the lead dive master would be. The problem was that at 60 feet, we were close to 20 feet above the ocean floor.  They seemed to want us to just do a "hover  dive" over the site as we drifted along. If you want to explore the reefs and coral heads, you had to drop down to about 70  to 80 feet. Also, this must have been the SLOOOOWWWESSSSTT drift dive in history. I literally had to constantly flare out to keep from getting ahead of the dive guide. Once quick flip of my fins, and I was yards ahead of him, and  would then have to turn around and swim back behind him. Also, they had a maximum dive time of about 45 minutes. With this type of drift dive, I was exiting the water with over 1000 psi still in my tank. As a site, the Mushroom Forest is beautiful, but I don't feel like I really had a chance to explore it.

Exiting the vessel was a challenge for several of the divers on the boat. By design, everyone surfaced at once with the dive guides, and then bobbed on the surface until the boat maneuvered  to let us back on. On the first dive, there was no tow line extended, and with the noticeable surface chop, several divers had trouble getting aboard. I was usually one of the last divers to get out of the water, and on the first dive, the dive guide and I had to help an exhausted diver to the dive steps. I took off his fins for him so he could get aboard, and my wife was at the dive platform taking fins from divers and piling them up on deck. Not usually the job of the dive guests.

The second dive was more of the same; a super slow drift dive over Hell Corner dive site. Again, the depth limits given to us the by the guides was 10 to 20 feet above the ocean floor.

So, Ocean Encounters is a professionally run dive enterprise, and for those divers who dive once a year or two on their Caribbean dive vacations, they may be used to this type of operation. However, those of us that who have dived with smaller groups may be very unimpressed.

My other dive experience was with The Dive Bus, and was the polar opposite. It is run by Suzy and Mark. There are probably two nicer people somewhere on Curacao, but if so I never met them. From the first moment I stepped up to their dive hut, I felt like I'd been diving with friends for several years. Suzy and Mark are excited about diving in Curacao, and their enthusiasm is infectious.

Their operation  is quite unique. First of all, their dive hut is located a the Car Pile dive site, which became one of my favorite dive sites on the island. If you want , you can pick up your tank and weights and swim out to the site, or you can go on a guided dive with one of their dive masters. Also, they have a dive bus that holds up to 8 divers, plus all equipment (they also have access to several other vehicles for larger groups). You can meet them at the hut, or they will pick you up at your hotel.

The Bus takes you to one of the island's many shore dive sites, and during the drive they are telling you about  the history of the island and pointing out sites  you may want to see. You are usually diving with no more than 6 or 8 divers, so their attention to your needs is superb. If you want, you can sit back and let them do everything short of putting your fins on your feet, but they  make you feel so at home with them, you want to jump in and help pull tanks out of the van and set up the "base camp".

The dive briefing is very extensive, and our two tank dive at Tug Boat was led by Ed, who is equally as excited about diving as the owners. When Ed, or any of the guides, lead a dive, they are constantly looking out for the unique things to see. On my first dive at Tugboat, I found a brown Seahorse (my first), several Eels, a Stonefish,  Spotted Drum, and too many others to mention. But it was the guiding of Ed that made it so worthwhile. Also, at many of the sites, the dive is scheduled so that the end of the dive is in 10 to 15 feet. So your safety stop is part of the actual dive instead of just hanging out in blue water. As a result, we were able to get close to an hour of serious diving in, and I was still exiting with just over 500 psi in the tank.

Between dives there are sandwiches, chips, fruit and drinks. And all the time the Dive Bus gang is making you feel like one of the family.

So, the diving experience in Curacao was very diverse. I've dived all over the Caribbean, and Curacao has some of the most beautiful and colorful coral I've seen. You might not get the big pelagics found elsewhere, but the beauty of the coral and the abundance of sea life more than make up for that. As a dive operation, I will only dive with the Dive Bus. The trips to and from  the sites take no longer by Bus than they do by vessel (many times the land trip is shorter), and is much more comfortable. The cost savings is substantial too. A two tank dive with the Dive Bus was $75; and the two tank boat dive with Ocean Encounters was about $120. I don't want to give the impression that Ocean Encounters is bad; it is just not my cup of tea. I'm used to diving with smaller groups that take the time to use their local knowledge to enhance your dive.

However, the main reason to dive with the Dive Bus is Suzy, Mark, and their cadre of dive guides. They went out of their way to make sure your diving experience was so great you could not wait to return. They give the same high qualify, personal service that I'm used to on the liveaboards. I can't wait to return and dive the many sites that this first trip did not allow me to visit.

Hi Suzy and Mark,

Thanks for letting me dive with you this year. I plan on being back next year but only if you promise to show me more disrespect. I am not paying you for the dives, I can pay anybody for that. I am paying you for the abuse that I get from you and Mark and I feel that I did not get my money's worth this year. Hopefully you will treat me worse next year.

Connor, Fiona, Jim and I had a blast with you guys.  I came down with a bronchial “thing” later that evening so my inability to get myself comfortable was less anxiety and more physical!

We did have a great week on Curacao, and undoubtedly will return.  Connor and Fiona are all psyched to take a full course and get certified.  If that isn’t the mark of a good teacher, I do not know what is.

Well, I finally returned back home from Curacao kicking and screaming because I didn't want to leave!!!:D  Seriously, my wife and I kept trying to figure out how we could move residence to the island.  This was by far my family's favorite Caribbean dive destination yet.

Mark and Suzy (from The Dive Bus) and Dave (from Sunset Divers) were some of the most genuine and nicest people I've ever met.  The diving was phenomenal!  We shore dived Porto Marie, Vaersenbaai, Playa Kalki, and Tugboat/Caracasbaai....

... It was really nice meeting both you and Mark on Thursday morning on the way to dive the Tugboat.  I wish I would have had more time to talk, we were in a little bit of a hurry that morning because I had to dive Tugboat and get to the northwest end of the island for a boat dive.  Tell Mark thanks for his mini-briefing on the Tugboat dive site.  His directions were very helpful.  This was my son's favorite shore dive while we were on the island.  Swimming under the pier and near the cargo ship that was docked in the port for maintenance was very cool!

Curacao has become our new favorite diving destination, so I am sure that we'll be back.  I look forward to seeing you two again and diving your house reef.  Again, thanks so much for your help.

Sincerely,

Chris Bushong

We consider The Dive Bus to be the BEST dive operator anywhere. They certainly are one of the friendliest and the most fun bunch we have ever encountered.
We spent the entire day diving with them. We did two dives in the morning and two in the afternoon. The small restaurant by the Dive Bus Hut makes an excellent lunch as well. Suzy called a cab for us. It took about five minutes for the cab to appear and we were back at the ship in time to drop our gear in the cabin and go do a little shopping.
When I die if I have the good fortune of heading to heaven it will look a lot like the Dive Bus.

Hopefully you got some of the beer that we left also. I don't think that I had that many beer fines but we didn't drink all we had, so we thought we'd share the wealth...

I have been meaning to write for about a month now. I have wanted to once again thank you for the amazing scuba diving experience you took us on.
All of you made the full day of instruction and scuba adventure the true highlight of our vacation. We had a riot!

You are to be commended that you were able to instill confidence and instruction within a fun filled day with a tons of laughs. I think we had so much fun because we sensed that we could trust your experience and instruction – as you stated we were all attentive yet relaxed – that’s a testament to all of you! There were smiles from start to finish!
There is absolutely no one that I would rather get certified with other than all of you. I have even thought that at some point we will come back to Curacao just to get certified by The Dive Bus! Now that sounds like a fun week!!
We have now settled back into the grind at home and are truly missing the underwater sights and the laughs we had with all of you. Once again, thank you so much for what you did for us! I proudly wear my Dive Bus hat shoveling the snow here at home!!
Hope all is well. Please stay in touch and we will visit the web site often.

You guys truly are the best!!

All the best! Cheers!

To think 1 week ago I was concerned about all the sand between the toes! Hell of alot warmer than the friggin snow!!!!!

I would like to give you my version of my birthday [in Curacao]. First off, I woke up to a beautiful sunny day. Went to Versanbaai to do a little diving. Mark, not feeling great, was a fantastic host / DM. I had 2 great dives!!!!!

What happened on those dives you ask?

I got a birthday serenade underwater led by Mark, joined in by J and Lori. You really had to hear the crazy buggers....best mumbling I have ever heard!!!!! Got underwater hugs...geez, Jamey even wanted to some underwater synro swimming!!!!!

Then we sufaced to a sunny afternoon, Anita waiting for us to tell us of her adventure. The sprinkling from the Curacao gods just meant that Lori performed her patented rain dance that morning.(although I was not a witness to that, ask Jay for details.) Under the comfort of the tree we undressed, hubba, hubba... then loaded up and off  to the hut for a rinse, a beer and sandwich....then to top it all off,  I got a great big hug, (I really like big hugs) from a pretty smiling lady.

All I could say is WOW!!!!!!!! I had a great and very memorable birthday. After my day, I went out for a wonderful dinner that evening and celebrated 3 birthdays...

...Thank you very much for all you did and I am already planning our return in 2009.

Here are some photos..some of which Mark requested.  By the way, 2008 version of the Ice flow race is 15th
March. The Dive Bus will be there being represented by members of the undefeated x 2yrs EUC Slushpuppies
freezing our **** off. You are welcome to join us...

All the best

The diving I did with "The Dive Bus" was shore diving ... I did two shore dives with Mark, the first was with one other person and the second was just the two of us. They were both approx 60 ft dives and Mark was very good at pointing out marine life that I had never had the opportuntity to see before like squid and flying gurards.
He was very helpful with some diving tips and Suzy was a pleasure to work with in setting the trip up ahead of time and also at their location. There web site has a lot of information.
I wouldn't hestitate to go diving with them again if I was ever in Curacao. They couldn't pick me up at the dock so I took a cab but it was only $14 just make sure you get an agreed price ahead of time.

Dive Bus--great diving/snorkeling!
We just returned from a 14 night Celebrity Summit cruise that included a stop on Curacao. In Curacao, my sister and Mom went on a private tour with Cheraldine Osepa (www.coast2coastcuracao.com). We toured with Cheraldine last year on Curacao. She's a gem of a person. We love her and she is so knowledgeable of the island. You can't go wrong with Cheraldine! [Go here for more info on combining a dive and an island tour]
I dove again while on Curacao. I always dive with Suzy and Mark, owners of the Dive Bus Hut (www.the-dive-bus.com ). The Dive Bus is top notch! I dove with only another woman and Mark, owner and Dive Master extraordinaire. They are very safety conscious, FUN and run a very personalized S.C.U.B.A shop.
We saw flying Gurnard fish, eels (one with a chunk out of him--must have lost a battle with a meaner eel beautiful soft and hard corals, tons of beautiful fish, a Scorpion fish ( a new one for me), etc. It was just a wonderful dive!
Try the Dive Bus, you'll like them!

Just a quick note to let you know just how great you guys are.  After our recent trip to Hawaii, we realize there’s no place like Curacao and The Dive Bus…for the following reasons:
1) water temperature
2) much nicer coral variety and color in Curacao
3) many, many more fish in Curacao
4) nice, easy diving in Curacao with big payoffs
5) very easy shore entries in Curacao
6) best dive shop/divemasters/guides/instructors ever at The Dive Bus.
Sooooooo, the moral of the story is, we love you guys and your little island!  Hope to see you sometime this year,

I just want to express my appreciation again for your operation and for a great dive course with a wonderful instructor, Roel.
Since I didn't do much research or asking around, I feel very lucky to have happened upon your dive shop. The casual/low-key atmosphere was perfect for me. I felt very safe the whole time and really appreciated that I was not rushed, especially since I had almost no knowledge and had done very little preparation going into the course.  Please pass on my appreciation to Roel.

I have recommended you guys over the last three weeks to several divers wanting a good dive operator in Curacao.

We still consider The Dive Bus to be THE best dive operator we have ever dived with and the most fun operator as well. One of these days we'll get back to Curacao and will go diving with you again. Our itenerary for this year's cruise doesn't take us to Curacao unfortunately.

In the mean time here's wishing all of you a great year in 2008.

Breezes is by all reports a decent resort, everybody who was staying there when i was in Curacao were happy with the place, but don't expect the Marriott; Ocean Encounters is the operator and does not have a good overall rep, mainly due to the way they run their dives (short dive times catering for large, cattle-esque holiday diving groups). I am not implying they conduct unsafe practices, just that they do not have  any form of personalised service.

For diving, you are best served by getting in touch with Mark and Suzy who run 'The Dive Bus'. I just spent some time with them and their crew and had a total blast; their knowledge of the island is second to none and their DM's (Tim and Roel) were fantastic. They cater to smaller parties and have a flexible dive schedule, they are good people and will give a more than fair deal depending on the volume of diving you do.

If you insist, they will even drink beer with you after your day's diving (i hated that bit); forget hiring a car, the DB crew will pick you up and take you to all sites, nothing is more than 30 mins away from where you are staying (their op is 5 mins from Breezes and Lions).

The shore diving is fantastic in Curacao, the viz was considered bad when i was there (Jan '08), because it was 'only' 10-15 m on average; the reefs are magnificient and every dive should have some form of surprise ( i strongly recommend night dives off the Pierbaii reef).

You will not regret diving in Curacao.

Suzy, Mark and staff are hands down THE BEST. Small groups, front door pick up and return.

I cant say enough about how good this operation is. Top Notch, A+ You cant go wrong with the Dive Bus. Hands down the best dive op I have ever used.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you guys and Tim for a great week of diving.  I have dove with countless dive operators throughout United States and the Caribbean, and I can honestly say, diving with The Dive Bus was the most enjoyable.
As you know, the day before I dove with you guys, I dove with another dive operator on Curacao.  They provided a safe and nice dive experience for me, but I was just another customer to them.  You guys went beyond treating me as a customer.  All the dives I did was like a group of friends dong a dive together.
Mark and Tim did excellent jobs with the dive briefings and were very entertaining as well.  I learnt different ways of remembering, "Begin, With, Review, And, Friend", some about British Women.........
Anyway, you have a very nice dive operation and I can without any reservation recommend you guys to my friends and my scuba students who get the chance to visit Curacao.
Your customers are treated like friends.  Your website demonstrates you care about your customers by all the pictures you post of them.  No wonder you have so many repeat divers coming back to dive with The Dive Bus.
Looking forward to diving with you on my next visit to Curacao.

I now have traveled to and dived all three of the ABC islands.  Curacao is the largest of the three and the most populated.  Being the most populated meant having the most variety in shopping, if that is important to you.
One of the interesting things, at least to me, was the history on the island.  There are many historical and cultural places of interest to visit when you are not exploring the beautiful reefs that surrounds the island.
One of the most enjoyable parts of this trip was diving with The Dive Bus dive operator.  They specialize in Curacao’s famous shore dives.  They pick you up at your hotel and provided you with equipment, tanks, weights and snacks for between and after dives.  The treat their customers as friends and provide very entertaining dive briefings.
If you have some time, check out their website at www.THE-DIVE-BUS.com.  If you go  to their Photo Gallery here you will see pictures of yours truly as I celebrated the Holidays with them.  Yes, that is me with Santa hat on. There's more than one page of photos so check them out.
Enjoy ,

I want to second the double thumbs up for the Dive Bus (does that mean four thumbs up?). I have been diving for many years but my wife and traveling buddy is an avid non-diving snorkeler. We often have difficulty with dive operations not wanting snorkelers on dive trips and conversely with snorkel tour people panicking when I want to don a weight belt instead of their safety sausage to do some free diving on their snorkel trips.

The Dive Bus folks, Suzy and Mark co- owners, crazy Tim and others seem to have just the right chemistry in their operation to bring diversified water lovers together and have a great time doing it. Our first scheduled dive with the "Bus" team was on a Monday. A large group had apparently canceled out at the last moment leaving me as the only diver of the day.

No problem, Divemaster Tim and I did the house reef and had two great dives. My wife snorkeled the house reef and hung out with Suzy swapping malicious lies and untrue stories (apparently including the fact that I had been talking with Suzy before the dive with my dive hood propped on the top of my head at which point ,unheard by me and intended mainly for my wife,s ears, Suzy had said to Tim "Watch out for him, Tim, I think he might be slightly bonkers") .

The next diving day with the "Bus" there was a group of wonderful Canadian folks which included snorkelers, two novice teen divers, and several other divers of varying experience. In this setting Mark really shined. He handled the two teen divers in a respectful but funny, friendly and informative manner while at the same time not short changing anyone else. I don't know how he does it! Anyhow, the two dives (at Tugboat site) were great and once again divemaster Tim and I formed a duo and were able to dive our own profiles (no set time limits)spending some time with the larger group and some time off on our own.

Dive interval time was "shore time" and consisted of great comeraderie and friendly exchanges with everyone involved. After the second dive of the day delicious sandwiches and snacks, cold sodas, beer, etc., were provided and enjoyed. Next day's dives were more of the same, healthy reefs, abundent sea life, friendly banter and well planned and executed safe dives.

So, if your just a little bit "bonkers" or even if you're not, and if you're diving on Curacao ,give Mark and Suzy's Bus a try, I bet you will love it, and, Oh yeah, say hi to Tim and tell him that if he keeps crossing his eyes underwater they'll get stuck that way.

Sent: Tuesday, January 01, 2008

Just a quick thank you to let you folks know how much we enjoyed the time we spent with you.  I am including a photo montage of incriminating "Tim" photos (of him not by him) despite the fact that I notice that your last photo gallery contained sufficient images to get Tim (and perhaps the rest of us as well) into a very sheltered environment for a very long time!

Hope the new year does well by you and maybe  by the next time we see you I will even be able to hear something (perhaps even a comment about my nice dive hood or a discrete warning to Tim that someone might be slightly "Bonkers".)
Anyway best wishes.

My wife and I also used the Dive Bus in Aug. Our first day of diving was on the Hilton's House boat and it was just OK (very smoky engine blowing on the deck all day). I had heard about the Dive Bus on these forums but had kind of an "attitude" about shore diving. Not wanting to sacrafice our vacation by ONLY shore diving...well let me tell you, the diving from the Dive Bus is GREAT for these reasons...

  1. Many of the boat dive sites are actually right off the shore, the sames ones as the Dive Bus
  2. No smelly diesel boats
  3. No crowded boats, all the beach you need to gear up
  4. Very easy entries, we walked 40 feet max geared up, usually 15-20, and no big surf.
  5. Surface intervals that consist of hanging out and having a picnic on some of the most beautiful beaches there are. All locations we went to had bathrooms/showers and usually even a grill/snack bar!
  6. Convenience - they come pick you up at your hotel around 8:00am and get you back by 1:00-2:00.
  7. They are extremely friendly and helpful. They act like they truly appreciate your business, as it should be.

In a nut shell, lose your preconcieved notions about shore diving, the Dive Bus is (in my and my wife's opinion) the way to go.

Hello from the great white north,

I just had to send all of you a thank you.

When I took my trip to Curacao my expectations were very high and I was a little worried that I was asking too much.

I have done a fair amount of traveling and I can't remember when I have been treated so well. It was not only the diving which was fantastic but the way in which Suzy, Mark and all their staff made the whole trip so enjoyable.

I think I might have to go get surgery to get the smile of my face.

One thing is for curtain, I will be back and I hope to see all of you again next year, same time same place. I hope you enjoy the photos.

I already took the pictures of your website and made a complete Curaçao photobook, with a special page for the diving pictures. A unique experience to remember for always.

Maybe one day, when we are old, we will come back and of course we won't forget to visit The Dive Bus then :)

Thanks for the photos, your mail and nice wishes. Also for you all, a great, lazy & relaxing live in Curaçao.

Best reagrds,

The DIVE BUS on Curacao is a whole new kind of operation. Curacao, like its sister island, Bonaire, has lots of excellent shore diving. But unlike Bonaire it's not all laid out on one road & easy to find. These folks will pick you up at your hotel & take you & your gear to some great beach diving sites around this cool little island.

Someone stays topside so you don't get your car pilfered (as happens all too often on Bonaire) and a DM gets in the water with you.

They can show you some beautiful beaches that you will have all to yourself and they can be much more flexible with schedules than a regular dive boat. They are hooked up with some local boat operators so you can go "a la carte" & beach or boat dive at your own choosing. Curacao has a lot more to see & do than Bonaire (and lots of other Carribbean islands) and some great history as well.

I highly reccomend The Dive Bus & Curacao for a great vacation.

We just wanted to send you a note of our great appreciation and thanks. You were great fun and we look forward to hopefully seeing you each again some day.  We had an amazing time, in part due to the super service and welcoming attitude each of you exhibits naturally.

We made it home, but not without another batch of headaches from American Airlines--our bags should all arrive home from Dallas today, luckily we made it yesterday.  :)  During one of our layovers, I picked up a scuba magazine to flip through and there was the "clean up" picture of Mark staring back at me, so had to buy it!

Again, our many thanks and compliments,

For the second year in a row, we had a great dive trip thanks to the DIVE BUS. For relaxing, fun diving the Dive Bus is for you. Small groups, dive sites that you want to dive, Mark and Suzy had a great idea when they opened the dive bus in Curacao. They went out of their way to setup a dolphin dive for our group. We most likely wil be returning next year and WILL be diving with them again.

Thanks for another great week of diving. We had a great time and I know the rest of the group did as well.  You guys went out of your way setting up the dolphin dive for us.

I don't want to jinx it but I think I have the kids talked into coming down with us in the summer doing their open water dives with you guys.  Either way we will see you sometime next year.  Thanks for a great trip.

Title: The Dive Bus - Priceless
Author: debsthomas

We recently returned from a vacation in Curacao. If you are diving in Curacao I would definitely recommend the Dive Bus.

We had originally planned to rent a car and drive to the shore dives like in Bonaire. However that thought was quickly voted down (Curacao is a big island). I contacted Suzy at the Dive Bus and scheduled a trip. After the first trip we knew this operation was first class and scheduled additional days with the Dive Bus. They come right to your hotel and pick you up for a trip like I have never  experienced. This operation is GREAT. We dove with Andy, he was a great guide in and out of the water. Everyone at the Dive Bus was wonderful, it felt like we instantly had some new diving friends.
The days of diving with them made the trip to Curacao unforgettable .

Renting a car in Curacao: $60 plus gas and insurance
Finding your way to a shore dive site in Curacao: impossible
Fulfilling your dive vacation with The Dive Bus: PRICELESS.

Andy was a terrific guide and I thought the dive sites were all great!  Shore diving definitely beats boat diving, any day!!

I was able to get some terrific photos from the dives, and you all made my vacation all the more memorable.

Thanks again for a wonderful time, and it was fun hanging out with all of you at the Hut!!  And thanks for the camera tips, Andy!

Suzy, thank you for not giving up on me! Your professionalism and determination made a diver out of a doubter! I still can't believe I did it! Mark and I can't wait to scuba dive again, and our first stop when we next visit Curacao will be the Dive Bus.

The Dive Bus is a great place to learn to dive and continue to dive. Their expertise in teaching diving and their knowledge of the reefs and beaches on the island was very evident and although safety is paramount, their ability to be safe and have fun is what makes the Dive Bus so special. We will defintely dive with them again next year.

Hello to Everyone at the Dive Bus (inc. Emile)

Looking back on this year’s vacation we are thankful to all of you for helping to make it our best vacation ever.

In our previous two trips we ventured out a little but had never really eaten outside of the resort or traveled much outside of the resort other than into Punda.  This year we saw a lot more of the beautiful island and while diving, saw some of your wonderful beaches as well as beautiful reefs and marine life.

We were also very fortunate to meet so many 'brill' people through the Dive Hut.  Your hut is a great place for social gathering for all kinds of people to meet each other and have fun!!  We have met so many people that we hope to keep in contact with and are so excited to plan another trip back to Curacao and dive some more of your beautiful beaches.

It was great diving with Mark, Suzy and Andy, maybe next time we can get a dive in with Sadie too—I am even looking forward to the night dive (with Suzy.)

Thank you everyone.

Keep smiling til we meet again

I’m very impressed.  I would have never thought that this much work could possibly be done in such a short time (due to the excessive beer drinking after hours).  You better watch out, if you keep up this much production, you may have to get a real job.

By the way, I know you guys are locals and everything, but you should stop by the Curacao liquor plantation every once and while and “charge up” before work.  That stuff works.

Thanks again for letting us hang out, nice to be around normal people as crazy as us.

It was great to hear from you and view the photos on the web.   I really enjoyed the land shots - so many times Steve and me leave with only pictures of fish and coral.  Steve just got his photos last night and there were some nice ones.  So sad that vacation is only a memory now.

We had a great time diving with the Dive Bus.  Andy was a great guide in and out of the water.  We had so much in common with Andy that it felt like we were instant friends, and it was great to discuss all the different wonderful places to dive.

No worry about carrying tanks  - it is just part of the sport and the more everyone helps the more fun the whole group can have.  It was so much fun shore diving with a small group.

I will be publishing the review below because you all really deserve some outstanding recommendations on the web.

Yes we are all home safe and sound. The trip back was a little hectic, but not enough to keep me away for next year.

I did get back to the Dive-Bus-Hut to say goodbye to Andy and Sadie, I just could not resist coming back over one more time. We will be back next year and I want to do my Advanced course. I am trying to talk the family into staying for 10 days, 7 is not enough!

I washed out my new BC today it's awesome. I will post a great review about you guys on your site as well as on Trip Advisor. Just have not had time yet.

I called my mom from the Miami airport and had her check out your web site. She called back right away and she was so excited to see my picture she printed them out and probably hung them on the refrigerator?

Thank you for everything, I learned a lot and we all had a great time with all of you. You run a top notch business, fun and very professional. It was the first time I used an underwater camera and even though I deleted a lot of them I am pleased with some. Next year I hope to improve. Mark can give me some pointers. I had to take a minute and give a HUGE double thumbs up to the folks at The Dive Bus. I'm usually pretty lazy when it comes to posting on forums but this one I had to write.

I've been diving for 14 years, mostly recreational and all over the Caribbean. I've been crammed like a sardine on dive boats, treated like just another paying customer and then asked to tip at the end of so so dive. I wanted something different this time.

I emailed several dive shops on the island before heading down for vacation. Suzy (owner) at the The Dive Bus was OUTSTANDING in her help, quick to respond and offered great ideas for the diving I wanted to do. Once in Curacao, I hooked up with Mark (owner) to take the PADI Deep Diver Speciality course. As a Dive Master in training, I can say that Mark's instruction was some of the best one on one training I've ever received.
If you want a smaller, casual, fun fun fun group to dive with just go to The Dive Bus. Go for a few dives, hang out at the 'Hut', grab a beer (Polar) and have 'Akee' the cook fix you up with the fried conch and rice for lunch. Does life get any better than this??

The Dive Bus visits a lot of sites and are based just west of Breezes and that works out well if your staying in or near town. We dive a bunch with Mark, Suzy, & Jesper (Sadie and Andy are new instructors / crew addition) and you can't beat the good company and knowledge of the islands dive sites.

What can I say? Mark and Suzy run a great shop. They will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the best dive spots. They rent (and sell) full dive gear. If you brought your own gear, they can provide air and weights.

The Dive Bus provides a non-stressful diving environment that was like hanging out with my friends. When I wanted to dive on their day off, they were willing make recommendations and even contact other shops and find someone who was scheduled to dive the destinations I wanted.

There is a scheduled night dive every Wednesday night on the reef behind The Dive Bus hut. The first post-dive beer is on the house. And feel free to bring along your non-diving significant other.

Let me know if you are ever in New York so that I may return the favor and be your host.  Although there is not nearly as much to see over here (at least not underwater), it seems that you can get beer if you know where to look.

I hope this doesn't come across as "advertising" as I am not affiliated with the Dive Bus in Curacao in any way, I am simply a VERY happy customer of theirs!

My wife (a non diver) and I spent last week (4/22 - 4/29) on Curacao and I had planned to dive with a couple of different dive shops. After meeting and diving with the folks from The Dive Bus, I didn't need to go anywhere else.

I did 6 dives with them (had to spend SOME time above water with my wife!) and enjoyed every one of them. The dives were great and the surface intervals between dives were also very enjoyable with great conversation and a nice picnic type lunch. They even come and pick you up at your hotel if you like.

So, anyone looking to do good shore dives with experienced dive masters and be treated like long time friends should definitely look into Mark and Suzy at The Dive Bus! I feel like we have made new friends there!

We really enjoyed diving with you guys. Our dives at the Hut were easily the highlights of our cruise!

We especially liked that for our second dive, Frank was willing and able to adjust the dive plan to our abilities. This allowed for a longer, more interesting second dive. Many dive masters would simply stick to a one-size-fits-all type of dive, and we appreciated his flexibility.

Two words: Dive Bus. They'll come and get you and take you where ever you want to dive, and then they'll carry everything for you too. They'll set you up with boat dives too if that's your thing. Mark and Suzy are the best!

The Dive Bus is very non-diver friendly; in fact, that's part of their goal. They welcome the non-divers to come along too and enjoy a day at the beach and/or snorkeling. Now, granted, the non-divers are spending the day at the shore, but in Curacao they might be doing that anyway.

My wife doesn't dive and said she really enjoyed when she went to Porto Marie with us when I dove with the Dive Bus -- she spent the day drinking Pina Colada's on a lounge chair.

I did the majority of my diving with The Dive Bus. The Dive Bus offers a really great service: they come to you, pick you up, take you to the best shore diving sites around Curaçao, feed you, and then take you back to your hotel at the end of the day. They were the BEST! I did a total of six dives with them, one of them their regular Wednesday Night Dive, which was fantastic. I dove their house reef at Pierbaii, and did two trips with them to Porto Mari and Tugboat. GREAT diving, all of it, and I saw more moray eels and octopus and trunkfish and etc than I can even remember. It was the best diving I've done yet.

They also did a Discover Scuba dive with my daughter -- 3 times! Mark was really patient and great with my wife (who decided she's not a diver  ) and my daughter (who's a !). I did a shore dive while my daughter did the book-learnin' part of her Discover class, then I got to dive with her for her first dive. She loved it so much that she went out with us again the next day and Mark did two more "discover" dives with her. She's hooked for life now and can't wait to get certified.

On top of the diving, The Dive Bus had also organized an ATV activity. They picked us up at the hotel, dropped the guests off at the ATV shop, we rode the quads over a mountain biking trail, and met up with the Dive Bus again at the Tugboat dive site. That ROCKED! Quadding and diving in the same day - ya gotta love it!

I can't say enough good things about the folks at The Dive Bus. They were my absolute favorite part of my trip to Curaçao. If I ever go back there I will definitely be diving with them again. I recommend them whole-heartedly.

Chuck (and Beth and Zoe) from Los Angeles here.  We've been back home for a week now and the depression is absolutely CRUSHING!  We need to be back in Curacao NOW!

I just wanted to thank you again for showing us such a good time -- the Dive Bus was my favorite part of our trip to Curacao.  The diving was great, you guys are all totally cool, and Mark was so great with Zoe and Beth.  I still keep smiling every time I think of the fun we had with all of you.  I can't wait to come back and play with you again!

As I promised, I said some nice things about you on Scubaboard -- you can read my trip report here.  I''ve also posted all my scuba pix and actually got a few good ones.  The best of the batch are in my Scubaboard gallery here or you can check out my Flickr page - check the "You Are For Scuba???" set.

Anyway, thanks again for all the good times.  You guys ROCK!  Say hey to Mark and Jesper and Frank and Graham and everyone else for me.  We miss you and I hope we'll be back.

The following are excerpts from replies to Wendy's Trip Review on the Cruise Critic website here

I was certified to dive in 1999, dove the Caymans and decided I would never do it again because it scares me. Wendy told me about The Dive Bus and I started emailing Suzy. My family of 5 - husband Tom, 14 yo son Sam, 3 yo son Sean, me and Grandma Becky all went along on this trip.

If you are nervous about diving or have someone in your group not sure about diving this really is the place to go!

My son Sam had a Discovery Dive while I had a refresher and Sean and Grandma played on the beach (Tom dove deeper without us).

Suzy was extremely patient, funny and is pretty cute, guys. For the ladies – Mark is not so bad looking either! If I ever go back to Curacao, I will go back to Mark and Suzy and The Dive Bus!

Because I knew there wouldn't be time to buy souvenirs on Curacao, I ordered a bunch of Dive Bus things online. Mark and Suzy were thrilled to see all 4 of us, even the little one, in Dive Bus shirts. They took our picture and have posted it on their website.

My only regret was not enough time post dive to enjoy a beer on the beach and chat with The Dive Bus folks! We are honestly considering going back for a land vacation and having Mark and

Suzy certify Sam (far better than the cool waters of Pend O'Reille Lake ID which forced me to get dry-suit  certified!).

I can't recommend The Dive Bus enough!

Thank you again Wendy, this was a fabulous find for all of us who went. The people were wonderful and the prices could not have been better.

For those reading this with intentions of booking with the Dive Bus Hut, you will not find greater people.  Tom had the intro dive with a lesson, 20 min dive at about 13ft then a rest and a 40min dive at around 40ft. He was amazed - thank you Suzy  - and the price was only $65!

Due to a hearing loss in one of my ears, I am not allowed to dive but do love to snorkel and this place did not disappoint. The cove is very well protected and there is additional snorkeling outside the cove and along a protected reef area in front of the neighboring hotels. I had my own equipment so there was no charge at all.

One warning, if you are going here be sure you have water shoes! It is a must, there is broken glass at the beach and lots of coral immediately in the water. There are lots of colorful lizards (iquanas) running around and they love handouts of lettuce or fries from your lunch plate

We would recommend this place to anyone going to Curacao!

I wouldn’t dive with anyone else on Curacao! What a blast!

I found The Dive Bus while poking around on the web looking for diving on Curacao. The website was functional, informative, and a whole lot of fun. My initial e-mail was answered within minutes by Suzy.

Not too long after we booked, Mark and Suzy expanded their dive operation by opening The Dive Bus Hut on the beach at Marie Pampoen next to the Surf and Turf restaurant so we went for the beach diving, fresh fish at halftime, and beers and dive stories afterward.

I posted the information on our Cruise Critic thread for the sailing, and we ended up with a group of 21 assorted divers, discover/refresher divers, snorkelers, and some folks that just wanted to hang out on the beach. The best part was that there was something to do for the non-divers. Suzy had endless patience with us while we figured out all the details.

When we arrived at the Hut – about a 15-20 minute ride - Suzy, Mark, Frank and Jesper were there waiting for us. We made introductions and split the divers were divided into two groups: the 3 old hands geared up and headed off with Frank; the newer group geared up and headed out with Jesper. Suzy then started the class with the 4 Discover and refresher divers (Christine, Sam, Tom M, and Li). That’s true personal service!

The snorkelers flopped in, and the rest built sandcastles, hung out on the loungers, yakked, and had a good time.

When we got back from the first dive, we ordered the fish of the day and got a WONDERFUL fillet of snapper, a salad of lettuces, carrots and cucumbers with a light, tasty dressing, and fries that were just like I like them – crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside. Keith and I shared the fish and salad with a few fries, and I gave the rest to the snorkelers as we had another dive and neither one of us wanted to spend it burping. If the diving had not been so gorgeous, we would have whistled up another plate, some beer, and called it a day. However, the sparkling water beckoned for another dive.

We switched over, geared up again and headed out of the cove to the drop off, and this time took a different route by heading down the wall. The vis was up to 90-100 ft this direction, with no noticeable current. More wonderful reef, and more fish, and lots of eels (my favorite)! Just another day of diving in paradise. On our way back to the cove, we passed the Discover diver group led by Suzy, and traded lots of OK! and WOW! signs.

Got back to the cove and a cold Polar beer for me magically appeared in Keith’s hand. I love it when that happens! We swapped a couple of stories and sunk some Polars until the taxis showed up, when we had to say goodbye, get soggy hugs, and head back to the ship.

WE WILL RETURN!!!!!!

Thank you so much for letting us know about the photos on the website - they are cool. We had such a great day and its good to have a souvenir.

Can I just say what a brilliant outfit you run at 'The Dive Bus'. Working on a cruise ship we dive all over the world and I have never come across a centre that that is better run than yours.

The communication before we arrived was clear and you were really quick to reply. And when we got to dive with you guys you were so friendly and helpful.

Also, without your support Ruth would probably have given up diving for good, but now she is converting her Scuba qualification to Open Water whilst we are in Barbados and is totally enthusiastic - that's all down to you. THANK YOU!

We will certainly recommend you to anyone we know who is coming to Curacao and whenever we are back your way we will definitely be diving with you again.

In the meanwhile enjoy the sunshine and your beautiful reef.

It was a pleasure diving with you! The pics are nice and the 'cool' ones I liked as well ... I have sent the link to many people and they all like it! Good stuff and funny to see myself under the surface for a change ...

Aruba was good for wreck diving the Antilla wreck was massive, Jeane C was great and the coral banks wonderful too. Then at Sonesta the plane wreck dive was cool but the group was too large to be handled properly and the current pushed us severely ...

In any case, keep up the good work and when I am around on Curacao I will let you know. Cheers!

The pictures turned out great!  I've been sharing them with friends and family and also send some of my family to your website to show them how famous we are!

Corey and I are getting back into the swing of things here - being married - back to work - YUCK.  It will make the next dive trip even more special though!

Please send Mark our best and please keep us on the newsletter.  Also, add Corey's email address as well - he has been wearing the Dive Bus shirt since we left I think.

Thanks again for your wonderful hospitality!

We just wanted to drop you a note to let you know how much we enjoyed diving with you guys.

We were impressed with your operation and would recommend it to everyone, well anyone who wants a nice relaxing day of diving with the personal service that you guys provide.

We look forward to our return trip and diving with the DIVE BUS.

Thanks

You two were the best possible instructors for us, we had lot of fun and learned a lot of diving and YES there was a bug hiding behind the corner...  a big, smiling and friendly diving bug :-)  This bug warning was not mentioned in the book, there were no warning sights and now it is too late... If you find any cure for this please don't tell us.

The CD that you guys gave us is fantastic, loads of nice pictures and a seal wearing bright blue shorts...  You can imagine how nice it will be to watch these diving pictures specially in the heart of winter when it’s dark and there’s snow on the ground. We are already missing Curacao and the climate...

Once again thanks for excellent diving course and dives.

Best regards
Peter & Pauliina

I went with The Dive Bus who pick you up and drop you off at your hotel, supply all gear as needed and take you to all the dive sites around the island.

The good thing is that going by bus/car with a guide means that you get to see more of the island but also you get to visit many many more dive spots than you would on a boat - simply because by boat some sites would just take too long to reach. They have won some Eco awards also.

This operation comes highly recommended...it really is the best way to see more. They were very friendly, helpful and professional and I can only give them words of praise for the service and the dive experiences I had.

Hi Mark and Suzy,

My sister and I would like to thank you for the great pictures that are on the site. Now I can show off to my friends in Holland that I actually was in Curacao and that I actually did learn to dive!

Again, I'd like to thank you for the great time I had when doing the course. I guess diving will be something I'll keep on doing for quite some time. Next time I am in Curacao I'll give you a call.

Best,
Steven

Thank you for last week! We had an awesome time and haven't stopped talking about it. You guys were everything and so much more than what I knew just by the impression I got of you two by talking to you over the internet these last few months.

Thanks for the pictures they are great and I hope to start printing some today - plenty of them will be making their way up on the walls at the Peck house. I read and like the News Bulletin keep me in the loop.

We have given our dive shop your information and web-site and they are very interested and impressed.

I am so impressed with your business and very excited for the two of you. I'm happy to have experenced you guys and the Dive Bus at the early and growing years because I see nothing but up, up, up and expansion - all good things. Keep your excitement - it's wonderful to see!

Deb and I definitely have you guys and Curacao on our get back to list real soon and will be concentrating on making extra money to get there.

HAPPY DIVING,  DIVE BUS. WE MISS YOU!

All the best Mark and Suzy,

I really enjoyed the diving and managed to get a couple of dives in St Thomas when we got there, so already trying to make the most of the new found skills.

All the best to both of you, if I hear of any other ships heading out to Curacao then I will be sure to pass on your details.

Take care

It was very nice diving with you. I can strongly recommend it to others if they ever plan to go to Curacao. Beeing famous on your website is ok, much better than beeing famous here:

Hello everyone,

We have never been to Curacao or indeed been diving, although Italy is very nice. Nonetheless we really, really recommend that you go out with Mark & Suzy on The Dive Bus because they're both jolly nice people.

Thank you.

Today is the first day at work. Not working on a nice beach with seaview, like you, but at an office, inside. Fortunately I can be on the internet all day so I can have a look at your pictures every now and then :-)

Thanks again for the great diving experience.

We really enjoyed diving and we absolutely want to dive again!!! And if we go to Curacao again, we'll dive with you guys! It was great!!

Don't know if you will remember me but I was part of the open water course from HMS LIVERPOOL (the big lad with tatoos).

Thought I would drop you a line to say thanks again for all you did for us. It is true to say I am hooked, we managed some great diving in other places we visited including Grenada and Barbados. My kids love your website. I left the ship two weeks ago and am now in sunny Portsmouth.

Keep safe and thanks once again.

I really enjoyed diving with your operation.  I'm sorry I couldn't get back for the next day, but Liz was too sunburnt to go out. Next year, she wants to join us!!!

Although all my diving experiences leave fond memories, you and Mark struck a great chord of friendship.  That is as attractive as the island itself.  That, above all else, is your greatest asset!

I hope all is well for you and that you enjoy sucess!

I look forward to the time I can return and dive with you again!

Take care and stay tanned!!!!

We wanted to say thank you for the awesome time diving...

Our vacation wouldn't  have been complete without your kindness and great personalities.  We really had a blast!

We're already planning another trip to Curacao, I think May of '06.  We'll be calling you guys for a Dive Bus trip...  (This is a warning, just in case you need pre- therapy)... hahaha.

Chelsea really enjoyed hanging out with Suzy.  I am so happy that she got to dive and experience the wonderful sites below.  She was so excited, we didn't think she was going to talk about anything else the rest of the day.

We are so happy that Matthew got to dive with us.  If it wasn't for Mark's enthusiasm, he probably wouldn't have gone.  You guys are a great team!!

Thank you so much for the pictures, they are great...  We plan on sharing them with our friends.

Thanks again for the awesome day!!!  See you guys in '06

I just wanted to send you a quick note thanking you for such a wonderful time. I have totally converted to the concept of shore diving after coming out with you guys on The Dive Bus. The ease and relaxed atmosphere was amazing. Coming out of that first amazing dive and just hanging out in the shade with lunch was just great.

I especially want to thank Mark for leading such an interesting and relaxed dive - he kept pointing out stuff I'd have merrily swum over and not even known was there - it only made it more exciting !

Thanks again and I'll be sure to put it on my list of places to come back to !

In fact, I think a family of 4 are diving with you this week.  We told them they HAD to spend a day or two with you guys!

Thanks for sending the link to our photos - HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!! I love the way all the other couples have these romantic shots and there's me flat on my back with my legs in air and Denre hanging on for dear life!

We had a fantastic holiday thanks and great time on the Dive Bus.

Thanks for helping me to get the certificate - an amazing achievement considering what mad cow(ell) I am. Sorry to Mark for abandoning him at sea - I guess I need some buddy training, but at least I know and can get back to shore quickly if I see a bloody big shark!

Good luck with the business
