Begin your adventure:
become a certified PADI Open Water Diver...

... certified to scuba dive and explore to depths of up to 60 ft / 18m, with a certified dive buddy.

  • What does the PADI Open Water course involve?

You'll learn how to safely plan and make scuba dives down to a maximum of 60ft /18m and if you've already done your Intro dive with The Dive Bus, you're already on your way.

The PADI Open Water course consists of:

  • 5 x theory sessions ('Knowledge Development')
Watch the DVD and self study with the PADI Open Water manual, then go through the Knowledge Review from each section with your instructor. There's quite a bit to learn, but it's pretty straightforward and your Dive Bus instructor will be right there to help you out.

  • 5 x shallow water skills sessions ('Confined Water Dives')
You'll learn a whole bunch of skills in the protected shallow area of the bay, before heading out to the reef for your open water dives.
  • 4 x open water dives
Practise your skills again out in the open water whilst enjoying the stunning underwater world of Curacao.

Once you've finished the PADI Open Water course, that's it: you're a certified diver, ready to go off and enjoy some of the other beautiful dive sites on Curacao with The Dive Bus!  We'll give you a temporary certification card straight away and your full PADI card will be at your home within a couple of weeks.

  • What will I be certified to do?

You'll be certified to plan and made scuba dives down to a maximum of 60ft  / 18m, with a certified buddy.

If you want to be certified to dive deeper or go on night dives  you'll need to take the next step in your diver training: PADI Advanced Open Water.

  • What can I do after my PADI Open Water certification?

Once you're certified as a PADI Open Water Diver, you'll probably have been bitten by the dive bug and want to continue your diving education.

Your next step is the PADI Advanced Open Water certification which qualifies you to dive to 100ft / 30m with a certified buddy and to further explore the MANY exciting uderwater adventures available to you as a diver such as going deeper, diving at night, checking out wrecks, taking photos, better understanding the marine life you're seeing on your dives.

If you have the time, you're very welcome to do your PADI Advanced Open Water class as soon as you've finish your PADI Open Water at The Dive Bus.

  • General note:

Safety is a priority at The Dive Bus and our instructors reserve the right not to certify any students whom they believe are unsafe or do not meet the standards set out by PADI.
