Protecting, respecting and enjoying the marine environment is really important to us at The Dive Bus, and we do our best to show divers and snorkelers why it should be important to you too. So what's the big deal? Well, from a selfish perspective, no diver wants to dive a site full of dead coral and empty of marine life. But the bigger picture is that coral reefs - effectively the rainforests of the sea - are in rapid decline. Scientists estimate approximately 25% of the world's coral reefs are already destroyed. If current trends continue, they will be gone completely within the next 30-50 years. Coral reefs are the oldest most productive eco system on earth, and aside from their environmental importance, are extremely important to local economies, tourism, fishing industries, human health and more. There are things we can do to slow down this decline and hopefully even reverse it. Project AWARE and the Coral Reef Alliance rely on divers and snorkelers - just like you and us - to act as ambassadors for the underwater world, and to take responsibility for protecting, respecting and maintaining it. The Dive Bus Eco Policy outlines easy ways to take responsibility and make a difference to our underwater world, by reducing the negative impact of divers underwater and making a positive impact wherever possible. Just taking the time to read the following information means that youve already made a difference - without even getting wet: Many thanks.
